Published:May 08, 2025
DTLR proudly marked a new chapter in its partnership with Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (JRLA) by awarding its first-ever scholarships to two graduating seniors during the school’s inaugural commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 3.
Representatives from DTLR presented $2,500 scholarships to Rahmani Muhammad and Naima Kellum in recognition of their outstanding community service, leadership, and academic achievement. Rahmani will attend Central Michigan University to study film and photography, while Naima will pursue sonography at Oakland University.
The scholarship presentation deepens the four-year partnership between DTLR and JRLA, which has included annual uniform donations for incoming freshmen. DTLR announced plans to continue its uniform program this summer and expand the scholarship offering for future graduating classes.
Located in northwest Detroit, JRLA serves more than 400 students in grades nine through twelve with a leadership-focused, tuition-free education.
